The Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) has created the multidisciplinary infraestructure Conexión-Nanomedicina (NanomedCSIC) for the knowledge transfer about nanomedicine between researchers. This new network comprehends chemists, physicists and biologists and it is open to all CSIC groups with an active research in nanomedicine, which will drive this discipline through the application of technology at the atomic and molecular level for the detection and treatment of cancer, of cardiovascular diseases and infectious diseases, among others.
Dra. Isabel Haro, from the research group USiBAP, is part of the executive committee of this platform. The Institute for the Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC) stands out for being a national and international benchmark in nanomedicine.
The network NanomedCSIC is coordinated by Fernando Herranz (IQM-CSIC) and María del Puerto Morales (ICMM-CSIC). The others researchers who take part of the committee are Jesús Martínez de la Fuente (INMA-CSIC), Domingo F. Barber (CNB-CSIC), Nora Ventosa (ICMAB-CSIC), Francisco Rojo (IIQ-CSIC) and Montserrat Calleja (IMN-CSIC).
This iniciative joins to the creation of the network Conexión-Cáncer, a space that brings together the CSIC centers that study this disease and that, together with Conexión-Nanomedicina, demonstrates the support of the institution in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of different diseases.
